Small Groups - Grow Groups

What Are Grow Groups?

Grow groups are groups of varying size that meet regularly to spiritually train and develop in a specific area of life. This is usually born out, though not always, through Biblical studies.

When And Where Do Grow Groups Meet?

Grow groups typically meet on a weekly basis and usually on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Some groups, however, meet at other times during the week. Grow groups meet at the church, in people's homes, and at other locations in and around the Kyle area.

Who Can Participate In Grow Groups?

Most grow groups are open to any and all persons that wish to participate. There may be the occasional grow group, however, that has limited participation. This is usually the result of limited space, resources, or specific circumstances that dictate limited attendance. Be sure to check on participation details when reviewing the grow groups.

What Is The Emphasis Of Grow Groups?

The emphasis of grow groups is to help young Christians grow to mature spiritual leaders in Christ Jesus and in their respective areas of giftedness (Hebrews 6:1 , Ephesians 4:13 ).

What Do Grow Groups Focus On?

  • Specific studies (recovery, finances, worship team, media, shepherd's house, parenting, family, prayer, etc.).
  • Systematic, institutional, or developmental studies (spiritual formation, spiritual gifts, spiritual disciplines, how to study Scripture, apologetics, evangelism, missions, doctrinal classes, biblical languages, leadership, etc.).
  • Topical studies
  • Exegetical studies (interpretive studies of Biblical text)

The Four Stages Of Spiritual Maturity

Grow groups vary tremendously in the subjects that are discussed and the in the level of Spiritual maturity of the members that make up those groups. Without an understanding of what is being discussed and who is attending, a new believer in Jesus Christ could easily get overwhelmed with the subject matter. To help alleviate this, First Baptist Church Kyle has defined four stages of spiritual maturity that mirror the four basic stages in the life cycle of a plant. Specifically, the four stages of spiritual maturity are the seed stage, the root stage, the growth stage, and the fruit stage. Each grow group at First Baptist Church Kyle is identified by a specific stage to help assist you in choosing a grow group that is best suited for your personal level of Spiritual maturity.
