Teacher Bios

The Monkeys class includes three teachers to serve you: Leah Cady, Teresa Tobias, and Jane Geroy. Leah works Monday through Thursday, Teresa works Monday and Wednesday, and Jane works Tuesday and Thursday.

Leah Cady (Monday - Thursday)

Leah lives in Kyle with her husband of seventeen years and is a mom of four kids ages 2-16. She most recently has been a substitute teacher for K-12 and a fitness instructor. Her experience also includes years in children's ministry, Girl Scout Leader and youth sports coach. When she is able to carve out some free time, Leah enjoys reading, live music and thrift shopping.

Teresa Tobias (Monday/Wednesday)

Hello, my name is Teresa Tobias and am excited to join the Monkeys! I am originally from Austin and moved to Kyle in 2003. My husband, Michael, and I have been married for 24 years and have three children. We have been members of First Baptist Church in Kyle for nearly 15 years and love the MDOCP program. I have several years of experience as a preschool teacher at Hays CISD and MDOCP. In fact, I was a Penguin and Monkey teacher in years past, and I am thrilled to be back as a member of this amazing team of educators.

My volunteer work includes more than a decade’s worth of service with the PTAs at Tobias, Fuentes Elementary Schools, Chapa and Simon Middle schools, and Lehman High School. The service opportunity most dear to my heart is my work with Texas Parent To Parent (TxP2P) – a group committed to improving the lives of Texas children who have disabilities, chronic illness, or special health care needs by empowering families to be strong advocates through parent-to-parent support, resource referral, and education. I serve as a TxP2P parent mentor.

I pride myself on being a lifelong learner and I encourage everyone to embrace education. You are never too old or too young to learn something new. My family has a legacy of learning and I am committed to continuing that tradition.

Jane Geroy (Tuesday/Thursday)

My name is Jane Geroy and this will be my 4th year teaching at MDOCP. I have taught other ages ranging from Adult English classes to Kindergarten and a few ages in between. This year will be my 7th year teaching preschoolers! They are SO much fun! I graduated from Schreiner University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and then got my teacher certification a few years later. I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with children. I believe teaching is part of my calling and each year that I teach I continue to learn right along with the kids. My husband Jude and I, along with our two kids, have lived in Kyle for about six years now and each year it feels more and more like home!
